Does not handle multi file rar archives.
I liked this software before but ever since OS X Sierra this needs an update. I’ve had several instances now where the software stops responding and will not quit even when using force quit in the dock, menu bar, and command line— preventing the user from logging out or restarting the computer. The only solution I found was to uninstall the software while it is locked up and then run a command that forces all applications to close and logs the user out. Without an update I’d avoid this if you are using Sierra. This has been tested and is reproducible on two different macs, a 2009 iMac and a 2014 macbook Pro, so it seems to be a software issue that arose since Sierra.
This app work well for small archives. But when it come to browse archives with compressed .app into it or 1GB and up tar.bz2 archives, the progress bar stop and the application become unresponsive. Im on a MAcBook AIR with Mac osX Lion. Im hoping for a fix ;)
I’m on Yosemite 10.10.1. The app crashes when opening an archive. Can’t use it. Just found out that it’s compatible until 10.6… Can you update it for 10.10 ?
…but please make it quit itself, on pressing the "X"
Ive bought it to support the author for "The Unarchiver" I used since years. Great app for extracting all known archives!
Great! Just what I was looking for. Finally I can look into archives without extracting them. The filename encoding feature is also very cool.
This is simply the best and most versatile archive browser / unarchiver. It is fully OSX metadata aware (which isnt the case for some of the other, more expensive, unarchivers). Supports xz archives, too. The advanced file info is very useful!
It should focus on first element of a file when i open it.
Another great app from this developer. Simple to use, clean design & works very well. I really appreciate all of the details for files that it shows as well. Finally a good archive viewer!
Just bought it to support the dev. I have been using The Unarchiver for so long and have installed it on so many machines, I felt like I should give something back, even if its not much. Keep it up. Little utilities that have been around for ever developed by single devs or small teams, that are so ubiquitous that they feel like parts of OS X rather than programs I have to install are what makes the platform so great. Thanks.
I just love the app! Great app! I bought it mostly to sport the dev, Because I have used the free verson since 10.4.9 (When I was back there) a few good years so far with this amazing app.
This is a very fast and intuitive tool. Ive recently converted from Windows (WinZip) and do a lot of .tar.gz; where WinZip would have to do decompression and extraction with 2 separate confirmations (slightly annoying), this tool handles seamlessly. The only enhancement I would recommend: add the last modified date to the list of file attributes displayed (this is available in the advanced view per file, but it would be helpful to have it displayed in the lists). Overall - very impressive tool and one Id recommend.
Ive been a user of the Unarchiver for a long time. Thanks for making such a fantastic and useful little utility!
Like the other user. Im happy to support this developer. Great Job keeping up with the times. Worth the money!
Unless I am missing something there is no password protection. Fundamental requirement of an archiving program.
Best archive browser i have yet to come across, worth the purchase! I recommend you pick this one up, especially if you do a lot of work with large archives.
I bought this app like some of the other users of The Unarchiver. Ive used The Unarchiver for a long time and wanted to give something back the developer. I hope he reads these comments to realize he has great products in both The Archiver and The Archive Browser!!
2nd Review: Deserves 10 STARS! ********** 1st Review: Great app, nice design and very useful. Ive been a fan of The Unarchiver already.
